‘Prometheus’ Set Pics Reveal an Alien Tunneling System

The plot for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus remains shrouded in mystery and speculation. What was once described as a prequel to Scott’s Alien is now said to be something completely different, though strands of Alien remain.

Scott was quoted back in January saying, “While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien‘s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn’t be more pleased to have found the singular tale I’d been searching for, and finally return to this genre that’s so close to my heart.”

Michael Fassbender, who plays an android in the film, was recently quoted by Metro New York while doing press rounds for X-Men: First Class. Fassbender reiterated Scott’s comments above saying, “The thing is, it’s not a prequel. It definitely is separate. It is a separate story, but there are threads that connect the stories.”

He then gave hints as to the film’s plot when asked “Is Prometheus an alien?”

Well Prometheus is basically a Greek god that stole fire from the gods so that he could give humans equal footing with them. And then he got sort of tied up to a tree or rock and then an eagle comes down and eats his liver each day and it regrows and he eats it, regrows so figure it out. How can you tie that into space?

So I guess he’s telling us to begin doing our homework.

IMAGES REMOVED AT STUDIO’S REQUEST

With that in mind, we move to a pair of alleged (I guess it turns out they were legit) set pics unearthed by PrometheusMovie (via Bleeding Cool) featuring some sort of alien underground tunnel system. How it plays into the plot I have absolutely no idea, but I’m sure it will get your mind racing. The first question you’re probably asking yourself is, “Are these pics real?”
