I’ve pretty much said the same thing twice before, but I really don’t understand where the appeal for a Jem and the Holograms movie comes from, but the movie is coming nevertheless and today we have the first trailer, poster and a batch of nine pictures from the upcoming flick, just in time for it to be attached to screenings of Pitch Perfect 2 this weekend.
Aubrey Peeples stars as the title character, a small-town girl who goes from underground video sensation to global superstar. She and her three sisters, the Holograms (Stefanie Scott, Hayley Kiyoko and Aurora Perrineau) begin a one-in-a-million journey of discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden. Ryan Guzman, Juliette Lewis and Molly Ringwald co-star.
Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) directs and he recently commented on the film with USA Today saying, “It’s actually about a group of young people who are going to be inundated with this idea of fame and fortune and products and stuff, and within all that, how do you stay true to who you really are? That’s the real soul of the movie.”
